Roles within Clockwork
There is a hierarchy of roles available in the Clockwork platform. In this article, we list these roles and their accessibilities and limitations so that you can properly assign roles to users. We also provide instructions on how to change a user role.
All user roles have access to each section within a Project.
Ex: Dashboard, Internal, Admin, Grid View, etc.
Roles in Clockwork
Partner Role
Partners have the second broadest access within Clockwork with the ability to only focus on Projects and Deals they have been invited to. They also have the ability to:
- Access and change Firm Settings (billing, features, customizations, visibility settings).
- Edit User Roles
- Delete Clients
- Deactivate/Reactivate Users
- Access, People, Companies, Deals and Projects tabs
- Delete Tags
- Project - Contract Section: Fee Structure
Admin Role
Admin users have the broadest access within Clockwork and are alerted of all notifications and can see Confidential projects without being invited as a Team member. They also have the ability to:
- Access and change Firm Settings (billing, features, customizations, visibility settings)
- Edit User Roles
- Delete Clients
- Deactivate/Reactivate Users
- Access, People, Companies, Deals and Projects tabs
- Delete Tags
- Project - Contract Section: Fee Structure
Recruiter Role
The recruiter Role is the most common role designated. They have the ability to:
- Access to People, Companies, Deals, and Project tabs
- Invite/Remove Users and Clients on their projects
Researcher Role
The researcher role is very similar to recruiter roles. They have the ability to:
- Access to People, Companies, Deals and Project tabs
- Invite/Remove Users and Clients on their projects
External Recruiter Role
The external recruiter role is a special role type within Clockwork that must be requested.
- Only have access to the projects to which they have been invited.
- They can interact within a project the same way a User can. They DO NOT have access to People, Companies, other Projects.
Change a User role
Go to Firm Settings: Users tab

Search for User. If user needs to be re-activated, follow steps here to re-activate first.
Select the "menu icon" on far right of screen to edit the user.
Select new user role and save changes
